[ Jinx cycles through emotions in quick succession. First, she goes rigid, like the thought that Sharon might actually follow through with the kiss roots her in place. Then, just as quickly, the tension shifts into something sly, a spark of mischief flashing in those pink eyes that sends Sharon’s stomach plunging. And just as Sharon braces for it to tip one way or the other, Jinx settles into cool indifference, unruffled.
As if none of it mattered. As if they hadn’t just been a breath away from crossing that line.
Sharon rides the waves of it with practiced calm, each shift a beat she moves through, coming down from the sharp edge of need. Her mind still hums with static, but it’s softening, leaving her clear enough to focus. She's going to need to sort out her feelings after she leaves here. ]
[she gives her a shrug and a goofy look that says,"do i have to hold your hands through everything?". of course, it's just some lighthearted banter as she alters her position to lie on sharon's stomach, having her become her personal body pillow. her tongue rolls idly behind her lips, feeling her teeth as she gazes towards the bed sheet above them.]
If I can find polish around this place, we should do each other's nails. Have your middle finger match mine.
[the bluenette lifts her left hand, showing off its little doodle. but a sigh quickly follows, the hand plunging dead weight on her own stomach as the realization strikes her noggin like a thump.]
I'm nnnnnot looking forward to taking the sucker off. If I can't get everything I need for it once it starts losing its stability, I'm going to have to be Miss Nine Fingers.
[ Sharon lets out a quiet huff as Jinx stretches out and settles her head on her stomach. Not the first time she's been used as a pillow. ]
Cute. [ she remarks at the doodle, not entirely against the idea of matching little smilies. But as Jinx goes on, her expression shifts into a faint frown. She's never thought about the upkeep something like that would require. ] There's probably a hardware store around here with what you need. We can check it out together sometime.
[she lifts her head slightly, taken aback by her proposal then quickly pitches her gaze elsewhere.]
... I've never been shopping with anyone before. I mean. Girl shopping. My sis wasn't into it. [a pause.] —Unless it's for new a boxing gloves or parts for her saxophone.
[idly, jinx wets her lips and cautiously search for the other's hand, her fingertips brushing along her thumb then index.]
So. When... are you leaving? N-Not that I'm trying to kick ya out, heh.
[because as much as she would like for sharon to stay here and possibly spend the night, she might not feel the same, and jinx wants her to feel safe and comfortable. especially with it getting dark, the hosts might be getting restless for food.]
[ Girl shopping, huh? Sharon lets out a short laugh. She hasn't heard it put that way before. ] My mom used to call it a girl's day. [ It never mattered if they were shopping, heading to the park, or catching a movie—it was always just a girl's day, a day meant for them alone.
Sharon threads their fingers together and half-sits up at the question. She cranes her neck toward the doorway, checking the light, and Jinx is right: it's fading fast. ] I, uh... shit, yeah, I should probably head out soon. Not a big fan of walking in the dark here.
[ Part of her wants to stay. The rest of her knows better. ] You'll walk me out, right? [ Because she definitely doesn't remember the pattern Jinx set to avoid tripping one of her traps. ]
'Course! [she says, pulling herself up to her feet and dusting off any excessive grime or dust off her trousers.] What kind of host would I be if I let my houseguest get stabbed in the shins on her way out?
[secret revealed about what will happen if anyone were to misstep and not follow the right coordinates. jinx extends out a hand to the girl, then nudges her head towards the blanket fort.]
Feel free to take any extra pillows with ya. I've got plenty to spare.
[ Sharon lets Jinx pull her up, her grin slightly crooked. It's reassuring to know what a misstep would trigger, and she makes a mental note to ask Jinx to show her how she built those traps someday.
Adjusting the tote on her shoulder, she chuckles at the offer, already ducking out from under the fort. ] I am good on that front. Thanks, though. [ As they reach the open doorway, she lets Jinx lead the way. ]
[she leads the way but not without using this sly chance to grab hold of the other's hand. and in the event that sharon questions it, jinx beats her to the punch while glancing over her shoulder with a smirk prancing on her face.] ... So you don't get lost.
[and when they make it to the main lobby of the store, she hops from one square tile to the next, occasionally looking at sharon's feet for any missteps.]
If you screw up, don't worry. I know how to disable the traps before you go down. But I'll only do it once.
[ And she's the one that's gets called Touch'n'Feels, huh? ] Right. Of course. [ It doesn't seem to bother her—in fact, there's almost comfort in the touch. A sense of safety. Security.
She trails after Jinx with ease, hopping from tile to tile, doing her best not to overthink the last hour. ] My hero. [ Voice dripping sarcasm, but it's softened by warmth, by affection.
At the front entrance, she gives Jinx's hand a quick squeeze. ] Try not to get bitten by another rabid dog. I don't mind playing nurse, but I'm terrible at real first aid.
[she returns the squeeze, and she finally unties their fingers, folding her arms over her chest while leaning against the door frame. truthfully, jinx wishes she could stay and keep her company further, but she wouldn't want the other to witness her night terrors or the risk of making a fool of herself somehow. her curse has to be emerging from the shadows soon, because there's absolutely no way it would allow something this good to continue to ruin its course. still, the bluenette snorts a chuckle, with the smirk not wavering.]
Aw, how else am I gonna get my kicks? The walls can only chat with me for so long.
Guess you'll just have to get creative. [ she teases, walking backward for a few steps. She flashes Jinx one last smile before turning away, lifting a hand in an easy, careless wave. ] Bye, Jinx!
